Cedar River Slalom Race
The season’s first Head-to-head sprint race and the NW Downriver Cup Race will be April 4 on the Cedar River, near Maple Valley, Washington.
The season’s third NW SLALOM Cup Race will be April 5th. Sunny skies are in the forecast.
A sprint race for all types of boats is this year’s FEATURED EVENT: A HEAD-TO-HEAD COMPETITION! We’ll do the same at Salmon la Sac and the Nooksack races and provide End-of-Season prizes you’ll just have to have! So come on out and give it a try. We are working with the City of Seattle and looks like they can provide our ideal 600-1,000 cfs of water so come take advantage of that.
In addition, a free slalom clinic will be offered in the afternoon – for any type of boat taught by David Zimmerman. A downriver race from Landsburg to just before Maple Valley (30 to 45 minutes) will start around 4:00 pm. Sunday features the SLALOM RACE! Both the usual and a novice course will be available to choose from.
An approximate schedule is as follows:
Friday, April 3:
Slalom course set up.
Registration open in the afternoon.
Saturday, April 4:
8:00 am: Registration opens again. Slalom course open for practice all day except during downriver events.
9:30 am: Racers meeting for downriver sprint and classic (You don’t have to compete in the sprint to race in the head to head, but it will help us with pairing racers).
10:00 am: Downriver sprint round 1
10:30 am: Downriver sprint round 2
12:00 pm: Downriver head to head competition.
4:00 pm: Downriver classic start
