Northwest River Guides LLC dba eNRG Kayaking (NRG) is a leading paddlesports education company based in Portland, OR.   Founded by Sam Drevo in 1999, NRG has taught over 3500 people in the greater Portland OR Metro area. We are nationwide leaders in our minimalist SW rescue workshops, and our kayak instructor training through the American Canoe Association.  We run multiday raft supported kayaking and fishing trips in Central and Southwest OR, WA, and British Columbia.  In the past 10 years we have run 16 international expeditions in Costa Rica, Panama, Zambia, Africa, China, Nepal, Thailand and Laos. Most recently NRG received the Outdoor Geographic Awareness Award from National Geographic Adventure and Maps for our Paddling Life College Tour.  We were also recognized by the Portland Tribune as “Green Giants” for our leadership and contribution to sustainability with the Down the River Cleanup on the Clackamas River.

Our goal is to help you and your friends learn the sports of kayaking, sea kayaking, or rafting and help hone your skills, and test your limits while minimizing risks and maximizing your fun! We organize rafting trips and kayak lessons on classic Pacific Northwest Rivers such as the Clackamas, Sandy, NF Santiam, Klickitat, Deschutes, Jon Day, and Owyhee.
